Bass – fretboard theory

memorize the bottom 2 strings (strings 3 & 4) by:

1. knowing what the open string name is

2. using “big cats” and “eat fish” (i.e. that from b to c and e to f is only one fret apart; all other natural notes are two frets apart), find all other notes on those 2 strings

memorize the top 2 strings (strings 1 & 2) by associating it with the note that’s 2 frets back and two strings back, as shown:
